Here are some facts which may answer some of your questions: 1) All freshmen will take Biology I (512, 513, or 514) in their freshman year. 2) Recommendations for Honors Biology from eighth grade science teachers are based on grades of 93% or higher, averaged using the first and second quarter. 3) You are not required to take Honors level Biology if you do not want to take it - even if you are recommended for it. 4) If you are not recommended for Honors, if you want to take Honors, and feel that you would be successful in the class, then you and your parents may request a course change following the High School's guidelines. 5) The High School Science teachers also determine who is placed in future honors classes. This means that you may be able to take H. Biology (534) in your Sophomore year, even if you are not recommended by your eighth grade teacher. 6) You may not need to take H. Biology as a prerequisite for Chemistry, Physics, or Engineering classes - refer to the HS schedule of courses. 7) Please ask the High School Teachers for information on placement information as they will have the most current information and requirements for science scheduling at the High School.
